Barcelona director of football Andoni Zubizarreta has claimed that Cristian Tello rejected the chance to leave the club this summer.
The 21-year-old, whose contract talks have stalled in recent weeks, had been expected to seek regular football on loan in the new campaign.
However, Zubizarreta told Marca: "Tello has a release clause of €10 million [£8.6m] and he had offers. He has said he wants to stay, though."
Tello has previously been linked with a move to the Premier League.
