Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic has been ruled out of his side's La Liga clash against Real Sociedad on Tuesday, as he is carrying an ankle injury.
The Croatian made little impact in Atletico's 2-0 win at bottom side Cordoba on Saturday, making way for Fernando Torres on the hour.
Manager Diego Simeone told a press conference: "I'm grateful to him because if he hadn't told me anything at training he would have started [against Sociedad].
"Mandzukic will not play and we are waiting for him for when he can take his place in the team again."
Atletico are third in La Liga with nine games left, five points behind second-placed Real Madrid.
