Arsenal reportedly become the latest club to join the race to sign Torino defender Gleison Bremer.

Arsenal have reportedly emerged as the latest club to register an interest in Torino defender Gleison Bremer.

The Gunners have enjoyed a productive summer transfer window thus far with Porto playmaker Fabio Vieira having already moved to the Emirates Stadium and Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus said to be on the brink of a switch to North London.

Furthermore, Mikel Arteta will be able to call upon the services of centre-back William Saliba next season, the Frenchman having returned from a loan spell at Marseille.

However, Arsenal continue to be linked with players in a number of positions, including a fresh addition for the middle of their backline.

According to 90min, Torino sporting director Davide Vagnati is ready to hold discussions with several London clubs regarding a possible deal for Bremer.

Outside of the top clubs in Serie A, Bremer has established himself as one of the most sought-after players, the Brazilian having contributed to his club putting together a defensive record earlier in 2021-22 which was on par with the title-chasing teams.

The 25-year-old was subsequently named as the division's best defender for the last campaign, and Torino recognise that now is the best time to maximise the value of their most prized asset.

Bremer has also claimed in the past that he was asked to commit to the 2021-22 campaign before being allowed to depart for a bigger European club this summer.

The report claims that Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur will also be holding talks with Vagnati to assess whether they want to put forward a formal proposal.

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel is in the market for two new centre-backs after the departures of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger on free transfers.

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte - who has witnessed Bremer's qualities first hand during his time in the Inter Milan dugout - is also looking to get a deal for a new defender over the line.

If reports are to be believed, Spurs have already agreed to sign Barcelona's Clement Lenglet on a season-long loan deal, which may be confirmed in due course.

Inter and Juventus have been been touted as potential destinations for Bremer in recent months should the player opt to continue to ply his trade in Italy.

However, it is claimed that neither club are prepared to meet his asking price, said to be in the region of €50m (£43m).
