Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's Arsenal debut this weekend is in doubt due to an illness bug in the camp, while Jack Wilshere may also miss out against Everton.

Arsene Wenger has revealed that a late decision will be made over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's availability ahead of Arsenal's home match against Everton this weekend.

The 28-year-old arrived at the Emirates Stadium on deadline day in a club-record move from Borussia Dortmund, thought to be worth around £55.5m.

Aubameyang had featured just once for Dortmund since mid-December due to disciplinary reasons, but it is an illness bug, and not fitness concerns, that renders him doubtful for the visit of Everton on Saturday evening.

Jack Wilshere is also doubtful for the same reason, having sat out the 3-1 defeat to Swansea City, and Danny Welbeck is yet to shake off a minor injury.

"Jack was sick, we will have to assess him today," Wenger told reporters at his pre-match presser "We hope he is capable of being in the squad, he is better. He will practice with the team today and we will see how he feels.

"Aubameyang was sick as well, we have to assess him today. I have to assess how well he is physically and how well he feels. He had a fever so he could not practice a lot – he started yesterday, was still not completely well. Welbeck is not completely back from injury, he is not ready."

Gabon international Aubameyang scored 98 goals in 144 competitive matches for Dortmund across five years.
