Petra Kvitova triumphs in Japan

Petra Kvitova picks up her second WTA Tour title of the year by beating Germany's Angelique Kerber 6-2 0-6 6-3 in the final of the Pan Pacific Open in Japan.

Petra Kvitova has picked up her second WTA Tour title of the year by winning the Pan Pacific Open in Japan.

The seventh seed defeated Germany's Angelique Kerber 6-2 0-6 6-3 in a final that lasted 100 minutes.

Speaking after her victory, Kvitova told the Tokyo crowd: "I really want to qualify for the end of season championships, but I want to enjoy this feeling first.

"Angie came back at me but I tried to stay focused and it's amazing to win such a big tournament."

Kvitova has now won 11 Tour titles, one Grand Slam and one Tour Championship.
