Women's second-round matches pushed back at US Open

Rain in New York means that many of the women's second-round matches at the US Open have been pushed back to Thursday.

The US Open organisers have moved back all but one of the women's second-round matches that did not start before rain delayed play in New York.

The only day game that has survived into the night session will see home favourite Jamie Hampton take on Kristina Mladenovic.

Rain delayed play for most of the day at Flushing Meadows, meaning that some of the men's first-round encounters are yet to be completed.

Andy Murray will finally get the defence of his title underway against Michael Llodra following the completion of Juan Martin del Potro's match against Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.

Sloane Stephens is due to take on Urszula Radwanska in the other night-session match-up.
