World number one Novak Djokovic reaches the semi-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters with a 6-4 6-2 victory over Dutchman Robin Haase.

World number one Novak Djokovic has advanced to the semi-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters after dispatching Dutchman Robin Haase in straight sets.

The Serbian made it to the final eight after coming from behind in an emotional match against Alexandr Dolgopolov following news of his grandfather's death earlier on Thursday.

This afternoon's match was much more straightforward and Djokovic came through in a little over an hour.

The Serb began sluggishly, getting broken in the opening game before levelling the affair at 4-4 and going on to take the set 6-4.

Haase could offer little to stop the flow of Djokovic's consistent ground strokes and was soon 5-1 down in the second but showed resistance to get one break back in the seventh game.

However, Djokovic responded straight away by breaking again to take the second 6-2 and wrap up victory.

The 24-year-old will take on Andy Murray's conquerer Tomas Berdych in the final four on Saturday.
