Neither man was able to break in the first set so a tie-break was needed and it was big-serving Canadian Raonic who came out on top 7-5.

A tie-breaker would also be needed in the second set and although Raonic had the chance to knock out the defending champion, he faltered on serve to allow Djokovic to level the match.

Djokovic then broke in the first game of the third before cruising to a 6-3 success to reach the final.

He will face either Rafael Nadal or Grigor Dimitrov for the title
