Stanislas Wawrinka has earned a spot in the last 16 at Indian Wells with an efficient 6-4 7-5 victory over Lleyton Hewitt.
The Swiss took one hour and 23 minutes to seal victory, which sets up a clash with compatriot and Olympic doubles partner Roger Federer.
Wawrinka hit 29 winners during the match in Miami, letting rip his textbook backhand on a few occasions.
Hewitt battled hard in the second set but ultimately had no answer to the solid play of the 27-year-old from Lausanne.
