Fabio Fognini secures a place in the third round of the French Open with a straight-sets win over Thomasz Bellucci.

Fabio Fognini has progressed into the third round of the French Open following a 6-3 6-4 7-6(2) victory over Thomasz Bellucci.

Fognini got off the mark early by breaking his opponent's serve at the first time of asking in the opening set.

Games continued by way of serve from then on, which was all that was needed for Fognini to take a one-set lead in Paris.

It was a close contest in the initial stages of the second set until Fognini grabbed a crucial break point, which allowed him to push on and double his lead.

In the third set, Bellucci came close to nabbing a break point, but Fognini was able to save his service game and eventually secure a break of his own.

However, Bellucci remained in contention by breaking back and took the set to a tie-break, which Fognini edged 7-2.
