Sale Sharks have revealed that fly-half Danny Cipriani is in talks with the club over a new contract.
The 27-year-old England international has been heavily linked with a move to Heineken Cup champions Toulon, but after being named in England's training squad for the Six Nations, Cipriani now appears set to stay.
A move to France would rule Cipriani out of England contention as only home-based players are available for selection.
"It is not signed on the dotted line yet, but it will be over the next three to four days," Sale's director of rugby Steve Diamond told the Daily Telegraph.
"We are very close to agreeing terms as we speak. We are just crossing the T's and dotting the I's over Danny's career at Sale."
Sale currently sit eighth in the Aviva Premiership with 34 points from 13 games, while England begin their Six Nations campaign against Wales on February 6.
