Dan Carter undergoes surgery

Dan Carter undergoes surgery on his left adductor longus tendon.

All Blacks fly-half Dan Carter has undergone surgery on the injury that ruled him out of the knock-out stages of the Rugby World Cup.

The number 10 injured his groin during kicking practice before New Zealand's Pool stage match against Canada, and was withdrawn from the squad when a scan revealed a serious injury to his left adductor longus tendon.

Carter will now begin a 12-week recovery and rehabilitation period.
