Wigan Athletic sign veteran keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen

Forty-year-old former West Ham United and Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen joins Wigan Athletic on a one-year contract.

Former West Ham United and Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen has joined League One side Wigan Athletic.

The 40-year-old Finn, released by West Ham at the end of last season, has signed a one-year deal with the Latics.

"Jussi has had a tremendous career and was consistently one of the top keepers in the Premier League," Wigan boss Gary Caldwell told the club website.

"He is still in fantastic condition and as well as providing great competition in the squad, his experience will be invaluable on and off the park."

Jaaskelainen first moved to England with Bolton in 1997, spending 15 years with the Trotters before joining West Ham three years ago.
