Hugo Rodallega scores against his former club as Fulham come out 2-1 winners at Wigan Athletic.

Hugo Rodallega bagged a goal against his former club and Damien Duff got his name on the scoresheet as Fulham came away 2-1 winners at Wigan Athletic this afternoon.

Roberto Martinez's side started brightly, firing an early warning shot through Arouna Kone, which stung the fingers of Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer.

The visitors also carved out a few early chances, with Dimitar Berbatov latching on to a Damien Duff corner to force a save from Ali Al Habsi.

Al Habsi was called into action again just before the 20-minute mark when the Bulgarian striker lined up Rodallega, who forced the keeper into a reaction stop.

Fulham eventually broke the deadlock through former Wigan man Rodallega. Berbatov provided the cross for the Colombian to head a goal he neglected to celebrate.

Wigan made a real go of it in the second half and Fulham had their keeper to thank for maintaining their advantage. Schwarzer produced saves to deny both Jean Beausejour and Kone in the space of five minutes.

Fulham soon settled back into the game, and increased their lead on 68 minutes when Duff picked up a Bryan Ruiz cross and found the top corner from just inside the area.

Wigan set up a grandstand finish when Kone scrambled home Callum McManaman's pass, but it proved no more than consolation.
