A first-half goal from Marcus Tudgay was enough to give Coventry City a 1-0 win over Watford in a pre-season friendly this evening.
The League One side needed just eight minutes to break the deadlock when John Fleck played the ball in for Tudgay to fire home.
Watford had the chance to get back on level terms a few minutes later when they won the ball back in midfield, but Almen Abdi's finish was well wide.
Meanwhile, Danny Pugh tried to double the visitors' lead when Tudgay picked him out with a cross, but he smashed the ball wide from close range.
Watford made a bright start to the second half as they tried to find the equaliser, but Troy Deeney's ball to Mathias Ranegie was driven just wide.
Ranegie continued to push for a goal and came close when he tried to tap in from a Diego Fabbrini delivery, but Ryan Allsopp made the stop for Coventry.
Allsopp was tested again late on, but kept out a Lewis McGugan strike following a quick move from Deeney to ensure the win for Coventry.
