Wales manager Gary Speed took his own life at his home in Chester this morning, police have confirmed.
Officers were called to an address at Aldford Road, Huntington, where they reportedly found 42-year-old Speed hanged.
"At 7.08am this morning, Sunday, November 27, police were informed of an incident at Aldford Road, Huntington," said a spokesman for the Chester force. "Officers went to the scene where a 42-year-old man was found dead.
"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and next of kin have been informed."
Speed made 85 appearances for the Welsh national team in a career which saw him represent Leeds, Everton, Newcastle United, Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield United.
