Torino, Sampdoria draw a blank

Torino and Sampdoria share the spoils in Turin as their Serie A encounter ends in a goalless draw.

Torino and Sampdoria have played out a goalless draw with each other in Turin in Serie A.

The visitors from Genoa had the better chances in the opening minutes, with Angelo Palombo putting a dangerous ball inside the Torino penalty area and then Daniele Gastaldello's effort deflected wide off Guillermo Rodriguez.

Turin created their first real chance of the game only after 25 minutes, Alessio Cerci forcing a save off Sergio Romero with a shot from outside the area.

Moments later Paulo Barreto headed over the crossbar from just eight yards, and at the start of the second half Andrea Poli turned Mauro Icardi's cross narrowly wide.

Chances dried up for either side over the following 25 or so minutes until Glik forced Romero into a good save with a close-range attempt.

Gastaldello had a good chance to grab a winner with eight minutes of normal time left on the clock, but his header from Roberto Soriano's corner went wide.
