Garry Monk:' No concern over lack of Swansea City goalscorers this season'

Swansea City manager Garry Monk says that he has no concern about the number of goalscorers within his team.

Swansea City manager Garry Monk has said that he has no concern about the number of goalscorers within his team.

Bafetimbi Gomis and Andre Ayew are the only players to have registered goals for the Swans this season, but Monk is confident that others will soon join in.

"People were asking at one stage last year if we were too reliant on Gylfi [Sigurdsson] and [Wilfried] Bony and it showed it wasn't the case," he told reporters. "It doesn't matter who scores it's the team, you need the team to play the right way to get individuals to score so it's about the team contributing. And look at the others, they've had their chances. Gylfi's been unlucky not to have three, Jonjo [Shelvey] could have scored, Jeff [Montero] hit the post against Newcastle, it's panned out how it has.

"I understand why the question is being asked because the fact is only Bafe and Andre have scored but there's guys who could have easily had goals. We've had set-pieces that should have gone in and you can talk about what ifs but there's been some good defending and some bad luck as to why it hasn't happened for others apart from Bafe and Andre.

"They are not going to score every week and others will have to join in, but it will happen and there's no real concern for me. The way we've been playing and trying to play is the right way, everyone is contributing and I could have been talking about five or six different scorers."

Swansea have failed to score in their last three competitive matches, and are next in action against Southampton on Saturday.
