Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat: 'Jonathan de Guzman deal is off'

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat reveals that the club will not be signing Napoli midfielder Jonathan de Guzman on loan.

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat has revealed that Napoli midfielder Jonathan de Guzman will not be joining the club.

The Black Cats had been linked with taking the Netherlands international on loan.

However, after signing Ola Toivonen on loan from Marseille, Sunderland have dropped their pursuit of De Guzman.

When asked if he was still hopeful of landing the 27-year-old, Advocaat told reporters: "No, no, not hopeful. He will not come."

Sunderland travel to Aston Villa in the Premier League tomorrow afternoon.
