Gus Poyet: "I have no issue with the fans"

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet attempts to play down the significance of his side being jeered by their own supporters.

Gus Poyet has insisted that he has "no issue" with the negative chants that were aimed at him by a section of Sunderland supporters this afternoon.

An estimated 4,000 fans made the trip to Valley Parade earlier today to see the Black Cats be dumped out of the FA Cup at the hands of League One side Bradford City.

With their side also struggling for positive form in the Premier League, some of the travelling faithful jeered Poyet and his players at the final whistle.

However, Poyet has admitted that it is "normal" for such a reaction to be aired by the disgruntled following.

"I have no problems [with the angry chants from Sunderland fans], I get on with my life. It is normal [and] I am responsible," he told BBC Sport.

"I have no issue with the fans. I never hide and at the end of the day I am the one who will pay the price because the one who can get sacked is me."

Next up for Sunderland is a home clash against West Bromwich Albion.
