Tommy Wright hails St Johnstone's defensive display

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright insists that his side were worthy of a draw against Swiss outfit Luzern.

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright has praised his side's defensive display following their 1-1 draw with Luzern in the Europa League.

The Saints boss admitted that the side did not have the best opportunities to win the qualifying match, but insisted they deserved a draw.

"I'm not saying we had the best opportunities in the game but I feel we did enough to deserve a draw," Wright told BBC Sport. "Defending is an art and we love defending."

Steven MacLean fired the visitors in front on 47 minutes, with the Swiss side levelling 20 minutes later through Marco Schuewly.

The return leg takes place at McDiarmid Park next week.
