Tottenham Hotspur coach Tim Sherwood is adamant that Gareth Bale will stay at the club despite reported interest from Real Madrid.

Tottenham Hotspur coach Tim Sherwood believes that Gareth Bale will stay at the club despite reports linking him with a move away from White Hart Lane.

The Welshman is the reported target of Real Madrid following his outstanding year for Spurs last season as he notched 21 goals in the Premier League.

Sherwood told the Daily Star: "Gareth's fantastically happy at Tottenham. I don't see him banging the door down trying to get a move. I believe one million per cent he will stay.

"There will be a lot of clubs wanting to take Gareth but he's 23 and has good advisors. There's time for him to go overseas or to another Premier League club but I think he needs to stay here."

Bale joined Tottenham in 2007 for a fee of £7m.
