Tottenham Hotspur reportedly plan to continue their spending spree with a £20m bid for AC Milan's Italian international forward Stephan El Shaarawy in January.
The Lillywhites spent over £100m as they brought in seven new players in the summer transfer window, but Spurs still made a profit due to Gareth Bale's world-record departure to Real Madrid.
According to The Mirror, Tottenham still have money to spend on improving their squad and manager Andre Villas-Boas wants to recruit a striker to offer Roberto Soldado some genuine competition.
Emmanuel Adebayor is surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane and is being made to train with the reserves, while Jermain Defoe could leave in January if a replacement is signed first.
It has also been reported that 20-year-old El Shaarawy, who has scored 18 goals in 61 Serie A appearances for Milan, is Villas-Boas's number one target and will be the subject of an approach from Spurs when the January window opens.
