Report: West Bromwich Albion eye late swoop for Jermain Defoe

West Bromwich Albion eye a late move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe to add much needed firepower to their squad.

West Bromwich Albion are targeting a late swoop for Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe, according to a report.

The England international has fallen down the pecking order at White Hart Lane since the arrival of Roberto Soldado.

Defoe is keen for first-team football during a World Cup year, so the Baggies are hopeful of luring him to The Hawthorns, reports The People.

West Brom boss Steve Clarke is also eyeing a move for Sunderland forward Stephane Sessegnon if a deal for Defoe fails.

The Baggies face off against Swansea City in the Premier League later today.
