West Bromwich Albion defender Goran Popov has admitted that he made a mistake by spitting towards Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker at the beginning of February.
The Macedonian, who is loan at the Baggies from Dynamo Kiev, has also insisted that he did not mean to directly spit in the direction of the England international.
"Getting the red card was very disappointing. This was a bad moment for me but everyone makes mistakes," he told reporters at a press conference.
"I am not trying to make an excuse but I can say that I was surprised to get a red card. I spat in front of me, not at the player. I am not this kind of person."
As it stands, the 28-year-old will return to his parent club at the end of the season.
