Glenn Hoddle has warned Tottenham Hotspur's players that they need to show their bravery to win back the support of the fans.
Spurs striker Emmanuel Adebayor has claimed that he prefers to play away at present, to avoid being booed by the club's supporters at White Hart Lane.
However, Spurs legend Hoddle believes that the players must earn respect from the supporters through their performances.
"They're fantastic supporters," he told talkSPORT. "They always have been but the one thing they are is very demanding. Most crowds are but they are particularly demanding.
"You have to be a strong character. You have to be brave on the ball to play at Tottenham in front of those fans. If you show that character and that ability they will be behind you forever.
"At the moment things are not going too well at White Hart Lane and the players have got to be showing more character and be brave on the ball. Sometimes you look at bravery through physical tackles but great mental strength and bravery is getting on the ball."
Spurs were booed off the pitch following their 2-1 home defeat to Stoke City on Sunday.
