Christian Eriksen hopes to emulate Rafael van der Vaart, Wesley Sneijder

New Tottenham signing Christian Eriksen sees similarities in his style of play and the games of Rafael van der Vaart and Wesley Sneijder, whom he hopes to emulate after leaving Ajax.

Tottenham Hotspur's new signing Christian Eriksen is flattered by people comparing him to Wesley Sneijder and Rafael van der Vaart, and wants to match their post-Ajax achievements.

Eriksen recently joined Spurs from the Dutch outfit, where both Sneijder and Van der Vaart began their careers before playing for some more of Europe's biggest clubs.

He told reporters: "I never got to train with the likes of Wesley Sneijder and Rafael van der Vaart but I am from the club where they were.

"I am not Dutch, but I am from a club where they both played with the same style. They've had really big success when they left Ajax so I hope I can achieve the same."

Sneijder is currently plying his trade with Turkish club Galatasaray, while Hamburger SV's Van der Vaart previously played for Spurs, where he scored 28 goals in 77 appearances across two seasons.
