Southampton manager Claude Puel declares himself satisfied with his side's point after they held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Southampton manager Claude Puel has declared himself satisfied with getting a point against Manchester City in Sunday's 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium.

Nathan Redmond gave the visitors a first-half lead after John Stones's wayward backpass, but substitute Kelechi Iheanacho struck back for City in the second half to deny the Saints victory.

"I'm very satisfied," Puel told Sky Sports News after the game. "I enjoyed it for my players because we worked very well with a good defensive organisation.

"It's an interesting point for us because we can see the solidarity of our team. There was a good spirit but we can keep the ball a little better.

"I am happy for my players because of all the hard work they've put in this afternoon."

Up next for Southampton is an EFL Cup home game against Sunderland on Wednesday, before hosting Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.
