Half time at Hillsborough sees Sheffield Wednesday and Burnley level, with neither side able to take the lead.
Burnley started the better of the two sides and had the first effort of note after 12 minutes when Kieran Trippier rattled the crossbar from 30 yards out.
Wednesday began to put pressure on the away side and, after three successive corners, Miguel Llera almost got on the end of a cross before Kieran Lee tried a shot that was well saved by Lee Grant.
Jeremy Helan had a wonderful opportunity to give the home side the lead soon after, but the winger completely missed the ball.
Burnley began to impress with some fantastic football and came close from a well-worked free kick that ended with Jason Shackell firing over the bar.
A fine cross from Trippier almost found Sam Vokes, though the striker could not get on the end of it from point-blank range to give Burnley the lead.
Vokes was involved again just before half time, playing Chris McCann in on goal, but Chris Kirkland came out quickly to close the midfielder down.
