Rafael Benitez has revealed that both Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo are free to play where they want in the team and are not restricted to one position.
The Real Madrid manager gave the two most expensive players in history the 'freedom of movement' in Wednesday night's 4-3 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk.
Bale set up the opening and final goal for the Spanish side on Wednesday night as he terrorised the Ukraine defence on the left-hand side, while Ronaldo scored a brace before setting up goals for Luka Modric and Dani Carvajal.
"I didn't tell Bale to play on the left, nor Ronaldo to play in the centre," Benitez explained, according to Goal.com.
"They have freedom. When they interchange positions, they have to assume the responsibilities of their position. Bale and Cristiano have freedom of movement."
The Welsh winger has been playing mostly on the right side for Madrid this season.
