Nigel Adkins confirms that Sean Morrison will remain as Reading captain.

Reading manager Nigel Adkins has admitted that stand-in captain Sean Morrison will remain as skipper following his performance in his side's 2-1 opening-day win over Ipswich Town.

Morrison was handed the armband with usual captain Jobi McAnuff on the bench, and Adkins confirmed that it would be tough to drop him after the victory.

"Our previous captain Jobi McAnuff was on the bench as an impact player today so Sean got the armband,"Adkins told PR Sport.

"We won, so he will stay in the side and keep the captain's job. Jobi has done magnificently for me and will continue to do so.

"We have got three points from a challenging fixture and I am delighted we got off to a winning start. We had to show a lot of resolve at the end."

Reading were relegated from the Premier League last season.
