Charlie Austin won and then scored a 75th-minute penalty to give Queens Park Rangers a narrow 1-0 victory over Yeovil Town this afternoon.
The away side had the first chance of the game when Gary O'Neill played a great ball to Matt Phillips, but the winger sent the ball wide when one-on-one with Wayne Hennessey.
For all of QPR's dominance, it was the home side who had the next meaningful chance of the half when Joel Grant ran at the heart of the QPR defence and forced Robert Green into a good save.
Austin had a couple of half-chances as the break approached, but he fired wide on both occasions.
The home side flew out of the blocks in the second period, and Green had to alert to deny Joe Ralls, Liam Davis and Andy Williams in quick succession.
Against the run of play, QPR got themselves in front. Austin was brought down by Jamie McAllister and the striker picked himself up to lash home the resulting penalty to give his side the lead with 15 minutes remaining.
Clint Hill and Richard Dunne threw themselves in the way of a number of late shots from the home side as QPR held on to all three points.
