Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin calls on his teammates to take heart from their second-half performance in Tuesday night's 3-3 draw at Aston Villa.

Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin has called on his teammates to take their second-half performance in Tuesday night's 3-3 draw at Aston Villa into this weekend's home clash against Chelsea.

Matty Phillips opened the scoring for QPR in the seventh minute at Villa Park before the hosts scored twice through Christian Benteke to lead the R's at the break.

Second-half goals from Clint Hill and Austin put the visitors on the brink of victory before Benteke secured his hat-trick with seven minutes to go and cap off a thrilling 3-3 draw in Birmingham.

Austin told BBC Sport after the game: "It will have been a good game for the neutral, but we are disappointed not to come away with three points.

"We worked as hard as we could but Christian Benteke had put one over the wall and in off the post, and there is not much you can do.

"The table does not lie but we have a big game coming up against Chelsea and we take our second-half performance today into that game. We are scoring goals, we are home and it's a derby, so we are looking forward to it."

QPR remain in the Premier League drop zone following the draw, two points behind 17th-placed Hull City.
