Tim Sherwood frustrated with Aston Villa display

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood admits that he was frustrated with his side as they missed a chance to pull clear of the drop zone in their draw with Queens Park Rangers.

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood has revealed his disappointment with his team as they could only draw 3-3 with relegation rivals Queens Park Rangers at Villa Park.

The Villans fell behind to a Matt Phillips strike early in the game, but Christian Benteke scored twice to hand them a half-time lead.

Clint Hill restored parity in the second half and Charlie Austin gave the R's the lead with 12 minutes to play before Benteke rescued Sherwood's men with a late free kick to notch his hat-trick.

However, Sherwood was left frustrated with his team as they missed the opportunity to put distance between themselves and the relegation zone.

He told BBC Sport: "It is disappointing. QPR took their chances at the right times. We are not equipped unfortunately to go anywhere and dig out a result, we have to play open. We have good footballers who entertain the crowd.

"Christian Benteke was very good, the second goal especially was excellent. We need him between now and the end of the season but it was disappointing to give away scruffy goals."

Villa are 16th in the Premier League, three points clear of the relegation zone.
