Paulo Bento: 'We can hold our heads high'

Paulo Bento insists that Portugal can be proud of their performance following Wednesday's semi-final defeat to Spain at Euro 2012.

Portugal coach Paulo Bento has insisted that his team can be proud of their performance following Wednesday's semi-final defeat to Spain at Euro 2012.

After a goalless 120 minutes, the 2004 runners-up lost 4-2 in a penalty shootout as Spain reached a record third consecutive major final.

"If I had to choose a way of losing I wouldn't choose this way, but Spain are a great team and we can leave with our heads high," Bento told reporters.

The Spaniards will meet either Germany or Italy in Sunday's final.
