Two League One clubs are reportedly keen on landing Port Vale defender Daniel Jones this summer.
The left-back only signed for Vale from Sheffield Wednesday in January, but his contract with the club is due to expire at the end of June.
That news has alerted both Gillingham, who have been promoted to the third tier of English football along with Vale, and Preston North End, according to Sky Sports News.
It is believed that Vale want to keep hold of the 26-year-old, though, and are planning to hold talks over a deal new deal during the coming days.
Jones began his career with Wolverhampton Wanderers before joining Wednesday in 2010.
