Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has praised his side's character after they earned a 1-1 draw at Southampton on Wednesday.

Rickie Lambert gave the hosts the lead at St Mary's before Robert Snodgrass scored from a free kick at the end of the first half to stretch the Canaries' unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions.

"The players are doing something right," Hughton told Sky Sports News. "When you look at the latter part of the game and we're still attacking, still pushing forward trying to get the win, it shows the character.

"I've got a squad, particularly a bench, that is desperate to play. We have real competition for places and, at the moment, that is the key."

Norwich return to Premier League action on Sunday when they host Sunderland at Carrow Road.
