Sports Mole looks over the Twitter messages that have been left in support of Michael Owen following the announcement of his retirement plans.

Michael Owen confirmed earlier today that he will retire from professional football at the end of the season.

During his 17-year career, the former England international has scored a large number of goals for both club and country.

Such has been the impact that he has had on the game, numerous footballers and people from other sports have taken to Twitter to pay tribute to the 33-year-old. Below is what some of them have been saying:
