Premier League side Newcastle United have recalled young striker Ivan Toney from his loan in League One with Barnsley.
The 19-year-old was due to stay with the Tykes until January 9, but Newcastle have decided to bring him back to St James' Park with Papiss Cisse injured for the upcoming Christmas period.
Barnsley boss Lee Johnson told the club website: "It's unfortunate with the situation that's developed but Newcastle have to protect themselves over the Christmas period.
"I had a nice call from Paul Simpson (Newcastle's assistant head coach) explaining the situation which I appreciate.
"It's the same with any loan and unfortunate for ourselves but Ivan is their player."
Toney, who joined Newcastle from Northampton Town in the summer, scored twice in eight appearances during his time with the Tykes.
