Millwall have reportedly opened talks with Newcastle United over the possibility of extending winger Shane Ferguson's stay at the club.
Ferguson is currently on loan at The Den, but that deal is due to expire on Saturday following Millwall's League One meeting with Chesterfield at the Proact Stadium.
However, The Lions are understood to be looking at a permanent deal for the 24-year-old Northern Ireland international, or at least to extend his loan spell until the end of the season, according to Sky Sports News.
Ferguson has made 27 appearances for Millwall during his loan spell so far, with both of his goals in that time coming during the 4-1 victory over Colchester United in November.
That has helped Millwall to stay in touch with the League One playoff places in addition to reaching the area final of the Football League Trophy.
His contract at parent club Newcastle, where he has made 32 senior appearances, expires at the end of this season.
