Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has insisted that the win was all that mattered from his side's home encounter against Norwich City this afternoon.
A strike from Demba Ba proved to be enough for the Magpies to claim maximum points at the Sports Direct Arena, despite visiting Norwich piling on the pressure in the closing stages.
Discussing his side's performance, the boss believes that his side reverted to a defensive outlook in order to secure the points.
"The importance of victory today was not lost on the players and that is why we sat back a bit at the end," Pardew told reporters. "Three points was everything to us and we got them."
The victory has moved Newcastle up to ninth in the Premier League table.
