Steve Howey: 'Stadium ban will hurt Alan Pardew'

Steve Howey believes that Alan Pardew's three-match stadium ban will "hurt" the Newcastle United manager.

Former Newcastle United defender Steve Howey believes that Alan Pardew will be 'hurting' following the news that he will have to serve a three-match stadium ban.

The Newcastle manager was banned by the Football Association for seven games, four of which will be served as touchline suspensions.

The decision was in relation to a misconduct charge, which was issued to Pardew after he headbutted Hull City midfielder David Meyler during the Magpies' 4-1 victory on March 1.

The coach was also handed a £60,000 fine by the English governing body.

"Alan Pardew knew straight away he had messed up," Howey told talkSPORT. "Did he regret it? Absolutely. Will he do it again? I don't think so.

"The thing that's going to hurt him the most is not the money, it's the three games he's not involved in. You can work on them during the week but when you're not in the stadium, that will hurt."

Newcastle are currently eighth in the Premier League table.
