Half-Time Report: Papiss Cisse strike levels it up

Papiss Cisse strikes at the end of the first half to give Newcastle United a share of the spoils at half time against Swansea City.

Papiss Cisse struck at the end of the first half to give Newcastle United a share of the spoils with a 1-1 half-time scoreline against Swansea City this afternoon.

Wilfried Bony, who had returned to the side after serving a suspension, scored the opener on 17 minutes when he took a touch on the edge of the box before slotting past Tim Krul in the Newcastle goal.

Jonjo Shelvey had a good chance just after the half-hour mark when he sent a shot over the bar after receiving the ball on the edge of the box.

Bony almost had his second of the afternoon towards the end of the half, but his well-struck volley was saved by Krul.

With the first half petering out, Alan Pardew's men got themselves back in it and it was Cisse who struck with two minutes of normal time remaining.

Gabriel Obertan did well out wide to carve open the chance for his teammate, and the Senegalese striker flicked the ball beyond the Swansea keeper to even things up.
