Erik Pieters may never play for PSV again after being ruled out for the rest of the season.

Erik Pieters could have played his last game for PSV Eindhoven after being ruled out for the rest of the season with a foot injury.

The 23-year-old had just recovered from a metatarsal fracture when he sustained his latest injury in the 2-1 defeat at RKC Waalwijk on April 11. He will now be in plaster for three weeks and is focussing all his attention on being fit for Euro 2012.

"In three weeks we will know more," Pieters told the club website.

"I will give 200% to recover.

"It's very disappointing this happened. I will focus on the program the medical staff have given me."

The Dutch international was heavily linked with a move to Alan Pardew's Newcastle United last summer.
