Arjen Robben comfortable with Netherlands formation

Arjen Robben insists that he is comfortable playing further forward for the Netherlands at the World Cup.

Netherlands winger Arjen Robben has insisted that he is comfortable playing in the formation Louis van Gaal is adopting in the World Cup.

Van Gaal is reportedly planning to use a 5-3-2 system in the tournament, which would see Robben used as a second forward alongside Robin van Persie.

"The way we're playing with the national team isn't new for me," the 30-year-old told Voetbal International. "At Bayern, I've played in a system like this several times. This season I've played as a second striker, or behind the strikers.

"And when I play on the right wing, I'm allowed to go inside, of course. Eventually it depends on which situations you create on the pitch.

"We need to play the ball from the back in a way we reach the attackers. It would be perfect if we can create one-on-one situations."

The Dutch squad will meet Spain, Chile and Australia in Group B.
