Motherwell have agreed to sign James McFadden on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
The 29-year-old returns to the club he left in 2003, having recently been released by Sunderland following a short spell at the Stadium of Light.
Motherwell assistant manager Kenny Black revealed earlier this week that the club were hoping to sign the striker, who scored 32 goals as a teenager before joining Everton 10 years ago.
The 29-year-old is believed to be short of match fitness but could still be named in the squad for Tuesday's clash against Dundee United by manager Stuart McCall.
