Paul Mullin ends Morecambe's winless run

Paul Mullin scores to give Morecambe a 1-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge.

Morecambe ended their run of five League Two games without a win as Paul Mullin's first-half goal gave them a 1-0 victory over Dagenham & Redbridge at the Globe Arena this evening.

Tom Barkhuizen almost opened the scoring for the Shrimps with a spectacular effort midway through the first half.

The forward ran close to the full length of the pitch before dragging his effort narrowly wide of goal.

Morecambe then took the lead through Mullin, who kept his nerve to fire home after he had seen his penalty saved by Liam O'Brien on the half-hour mark.

Jim Bentley's side almost extended their lead when Kevin Ellison saw his effort tipped over the top midway through the second half.

Ellison then went close with a spectacular late overhead kick, but Mullin's earlier strike proved enough for the win.
