Watford manager Gianfranco Zola is reportedly keen on signing Manchester United striker Federico Macheda on a loan deal.

Watford are reportedly pondering a loan switch for Manchester United striker Federico Macheda.

The Italian is back at Old Trafford following a failed temporary stay at Queens Park Rangers, where he suffered an ankle injury.

It is believed that new Hornets manager Gianfranco Zola is keen to take a chance on the 20-year-old after Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson declared the forward available for a loan move, according to the Daily Star.

Despite talk of a potential switch, Macheda recently claimed that he is determined to make a name for himself at Old Trafford.
