Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has rejected the chance to link up with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, according to a report.
The France international was given an opportunity to shine at the Bernabeu under Mourinho, who has previously labelled him as the best centre-back in the world.
Varane has been repeatedly linked with a switch to United since the Portuguese took charge at the club, but The Sun claims that he has so far snubbed all advances to lure him to Old Trafford.
It is suggested that the 23-year-old was also told that his wages would double at United if he were to put pen to paper, worth around £165,000 a week, yet Varane has no intention of leaving Madrid at this stage in his career and will instead fight for his first-team spot.
Mourinho has already spent £30m this summer to sign Eric Bailly from Villarreal, while Southampton's Jose Fonte is another rumoured target ahead of next week's transfer deadline.
