Manchester United have reportedly made huge strides in their attempts to sign Angel di Maria from Real Madrid this summer.
The Argentine international, who is currently on World Cup duty with his country, proved to be one of Europe's most influential players last season.
In a unfamiliar central midfield position, Di Maria contributed 17 league assists for Los Blancos, while he also played a key role in Madrid's Champions League and Copa del Rey triumph.
However, according to various reports in Spain, United are confident that a £40m bid would be enough to convince Madrid to sell, with the Spanish side believed to be interested in Monaco's Colombian star James Rodriguez.
Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with a strong interest.
